Probecast vs StatusGator

An aggregator of official status pages: one dashboard and one alert stream for the published status of thousands of cloud services.

The short version

StatusGator tells you what vendors announce; Probecast tells you what your clients experience. Aggregating official status pages is genuinely useful for IT teams — but a vendor page updates when the vendor confirms, and it says nothing about your own sites. Probecast checks providers directly from 4 regions and watches your stack beside them.

Probecast is monitoring plus monthly client reports for devs and agencies who ship projects for other people. It watches websites, APIs, cron jobs, TCP ports, browser flows and public MCP servers from 4 regions, groups everything by client and ends each month in a white-label report — with an API, a CLI and an MCP server so your coding agent can manage monitors too.

When StatusGator is the better choice

  • You are an IT team tracking the official word of many SaaS vendors.
  • Aggregated vendor announcements in Slack cover the need.
  • You do not need your own sites or clients in the same picture.

When Probecast is the better choice

  • You want direct measurement, not only what the vendor has confirmed so far.
  • Your own sites, APIs and cron jobs belong in the same view as the providers.
  • A provider incident should answer "which of my clients does this touch?".
FAQ
Is direct checking better than reading status pages?

They answer different questions. An official page is the vendor's confirmed account and history; a direct check reflects what a request experiences right now, including degradations a page has not caught up with yet. Probecast records the direct measurement; for official vendor communications, an aggregator like StatusGator is the right tool.

Which providers are in the Probecast catalog?

Over 1,000 — payments, cloud, AI, email, auth and more — plus public MCP servers checked with a real JSON-RPC handshake. Browse them at probecast.io/apis and probecast.io/status/mcp.
